This was a design challenge. The exercise took me roughly 2 days to finish, including the documentation of this case study.

Problem Statement:

The user wants to book a seat/s for the trip to space. They can book 1–5 seats, It will be a 2–7 days trip and the spaceship will takeoff from 7 different locations on the planet. Spacetrip will be an end-to-end booking system.

Task:

Create an app to solve the same problem. You are free to choose to make Android or iOS (Maximum 3 Screens).

Disclaimer:

We are not planning to make it in near future. This task is just a challenge.

Research:

It’s already predicted that space travel would be open for everybody. It takes 3 days to reach the moon with today’s technology. So, let’s assume we will be having far superior technology in future that we can travel to the moon in 6 hours.

“We are at the vanguard of a new industry determined to pioneer twenty-first century spacecraft, which will open space to everybody — and change the world for good.”

– Sir Richard Branson, Founder, Virgin Galactic

Some assumptions are based on the book “An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth” by Chris Hadfield.

  1. Health is the most important factor.
  2. Gravity issues
  3. Food (Astronauts eat different food)

From these basic assumptions, I have created a typical user persona ( I relate with her 😉).

Brainstorming:

Before thinking of any solutions I had some questions in mind.

“ HOW MIGHT WE”

It’d really make my day if you can share some feedback on my article, Thanks a million :)
